Caring Through Coronavirus

Caring Through Coronavirus was a rapid-response research project, conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Led by Associate Professor Siobhan O’Dwyer, a team of researchers in the UK began interviewing unpaid carers on 6th April 2020 (less than two weeks after the first national lockdown commenced). They conducted in-depth interviews every week for 12 weeks, with follow-up interviews in October 2020 and January 2021.

Each week the findings were shared with the Department of Health and Social Care, the Department of Work and Pensions, and Public Health England, to inform their pandemic responses in real time. The findings also inspired public artworks by Leo Jamelli.

The weekly briefings will be available here soon. If you would like to use any of the findings contained in the briefings, they must be attributed to Associate Professor Siobhan O’Dwyer and her colleagues. Please contact her for citation details.
